Golf International Discusses Why Kiawah May Be The Best Golf Community In America
In the January/February 2012 issue of Golf International magazine, Peter Swain noted, “one island, seven courses, beautiful scenery and wildlife, private beaches, soigné spas, several great clubhouses exuding Southern charm, palatial homes, brilliant tennis facilities and, in The Sanctuary, probably the best golf resort hotel in the US – it’s easy to see why Kiawah is a legend.”

Carol Preisinger Named the LPGA Southeast Sectional President
Congratulations are in order to Carol Preisinger, the Kiawah Island Club’s Director of Golf Instruction! Preisinger, a Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Master Professional, has been named the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Southeast Sectional President, a two-year term that oversees more than 300 LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals throughout the Southeast region.

Kiawah Named #1 Golf Resort
Readers of Condé Nast Traveler recently named the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and The Sanctuary the #1 golf resort in the Southeast. In the fourteenth annual Readers' Choice Survey, thousands of resort players, not pros, elected the best hotels and courses from Hawaii to Florida. To determine the top honors, participants rated the resorts on a number of criteria including course design, golf staff and services, food and dining, location, rooms, and overall design. The result is a prestigious list of 80 winners from across the country.

The Ocean Course and Doonbeg Golf Club Named to the Top 100 Courses in the World
The Ocean Course and Doonbeg Golf Club were recently named to Golf World’s list of Top 100 Course in the World. The Ocean Course was ranked #47. Doonbeg entered at #99 and was one of only nine Irish golf courses to make the list. This is the first time that Golf World has extended its respected course rankings to include the very best golf courses on earth.

The International Association of Golf Tour Operators recently declared Kiawah Island Golf Resort the North American Golf Resort of the Year and Doonbeg the European Golf Resort of the Year.

Kiawah Island Named #1 Reader’s Choice
Readers of Condé Nast Traveler recently named Kiawah Island the #1 island to visit in North America and the #1 resort in the mainland U.S. For the seventeenth consecutive year, Charleston was named a “Top 10” favorite city, earning the #2 spot just behind San Francisco.

The Kiawah Island Club and the Kiawah Island Golf Resort (KIGR) were recently named to Golf World’s list of Readers' Choice Awards. KIGR was voted #1 Best Golf Resort in the country, and The Club was voted #39 out of the top 50 private clubs in the U.S.
