In August 2012, an expected 50,000 visitors will descend upon Charleston and Kiawah Island as the 2012 PGA Championship takes on Kiawah’s famous Ocean Course. With 94% of tickets already sold, there is another way to get involved and watch some of the world’s best professional golfers compete for the PGA’s top spot.

Calling All Connoisseurs! The Sanctuary to Host ‘Gourmet & Grapes’ Weekend
At the end of this month, the Sanctuary will open its doors and welcome celebrity chefs, food and wine connoisseurs, and more to the Island as the five-star hotel hosts its 3rd Annual Gourmet & Grapes weekend. Beginning on Friday, April 29 with a Pro Am Tournament on the Turtle Point golf course, the weekend will consist of a variety of unforgettable – not to mention tasty – events!

11th Annual Kiawah Island Art and House Tour Slated for April 8
The 11th annual Kiawah Island Art and House Tour, sponsored by the member auxiliary group, Gibbes, etc., will take place on Friday, April 8, 2011, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. This year, five stunning Kiawah Island homes will be opened for public viewing. Proceeds from the 2011 tour, along with dollars raised from the past 10 tours, are expected to reach the $1 million mark this year. An extensive online art auction has been created to help the volunteer group meet the cumulative $1 million goal.

Congratulations are in order to the staff and team at The Sanctuary, Kiawah Island’s very own five-star hotel and resort. The Sanctuary now has another accolade under its belt as it has been named to Condé Nast Traveler’s annual Gold List of the best places in the world to stay. What an accomplishment!

Southeastern Wildlife Exposition Descends On Charleston
Each February, downtown Charleston opens its doors to thousands of wildlife experts, artists, visitors and more as the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition (SEWE) comes to town. The festival welcomes some of the country’s foremost experts in nature and wildlife conservation and preservation, and environmental education.

The Kiawah Island Marathon Races Into Town
On Saturday, December 11 thousands of men and women will hit the pavement running as they participate in the 33rd annual Kiawah Island Marathon and Half Marathon. Since its inception in 1977, the Kiawah Island marathon has challenged thousands of athletes from around the world to take part in the longest running race in South Carolina.
