2012 PGA Championship Tickets Sales Breaks Records

Golf | 2012 PGA Championship

Excitement surrounding the 2012 PGA Championship at Kiawah has officially kicked into high gear as ticket sales, which began in mid-November, surpassed the PGA’s previous record for sales for any PGA Championship in history!

"The opening ticket sales day for the 2012 PGA Championship on November 15th was the single largest day for ticket sales in PGA Championship history,” said Brett Sterba, Championship Director. “With the opening of Group G at midnight on December 3rd, sales in the first 12 hours more than doubled the previous record setting day on November 15th.”

As of now, more than 20,000 individuals have registered for tickets and are eligible to place their orders, and ticket sales have been averaging nearly six tickets per order. Saturday grounds tickets have already sold out, but tickets are still available for Friday and Sunday (limited numbers), and the other days of the Championship as of December 14.

For Charleston and Kiawah residents, now is the time to buy as ticket sales continue and local residents and owners could potentially be shut out of the most popular days of the tournament. Approximately 53% of the PGA’s total sales have come from more than 50 miles outside of Kiawah, which is drastically different than any other historical PGA Championship.

While the intense competition and events surrounding the tournament are reasons enough to purchase tickets, out-of-towners are also looking forward to traveling to Charleston and Kiawah to experience first-hand the city’s charming historical and cultural attractions, world-class dining and shopping, beautiful scenery and more.
