When employees of Kiawah Development Partners voted to make the American Cancer Society (ACS) their official charity for the year, they set an ambitious goal of raising $15,000 for the organization. After only one month of fundraising, the grand total reached an astonishing $25,686.80—surpassing the initial goal by $10,686.80!

This generous donation left the ACS representative “thrilled and shocked” and everyone involved overwhelmed by the financial support. The totals for all teams will be counted and released in September.
Throughout the month of July, KDP’s fundraising team planned a number of events and activities to support ACS. From lunch-hour cook-outs to bike relay races to dunking fellow employees into an icy tank of water, team KDP had more than a little fun raising money for a good cause. Sasanqua Spa treated employees to reduced rate services and employees participated in a 50/50 raffle and a 5K run and walk at The Sports Pavilion.
For the grand finale, KDP hosted Kiawah for the Cure—a night of festivities with wine tasting, live music, and a silent auction held at FreshFields Village.
Employees from across the different KDP departments came together to make the contribution possible. Representatives from Kiawah Island Real Estate, the Kiawah Island Club, St. John’s Properties, and Facilities Service rallied their colleagues and encouraged participation. Although the KDP team is enjoying their success for now, they are already looking forward to next year’s charitable efforts.
