Kiawah Island Golf Resort Hosts National Pro Am
PGA club professionals and golfers from all across the U.S. recently teed it up during the Kiawah Island Golf Resort National Pro Am that began on February 28 and wrapped on March 4, 2010. The 72-hole, stroke-play event, sponsored by Club Car, was held on four of Kiawah Island Golf Resort's championship courses—Pete Dye’s world-famous Ocean Course, Jack Nicklaus’ Turtle Point, Gary Player’s Cougar Point, and Tom Fazio’s Osprey Point.

The tournament format included four-man, best-ball gross and net, as well as professional stroke play. Thirty-two teams, with three amateurs and one professional per team, participated this year. One team came from as far away as the U.K.
Now in its 11th year, the tournament is a favorite among golfers who return year after year to compete. “For 11 years now, we’ve had outstanding participation from all across the country,” said Mike Vegis, public relations director for Kiawah Island Golf Resort. “This year, we were proud to welcome our first team from ‘across the pond.’ The number of returning teams each year speaks volumes for the quality of the competition and the value of the experience Kiawah provides.”
The events surrounding the tournament certainly added to that overall experience since play wasn’t reserved strictly for the course: a kick-off oyster roast, scoring parties, and an awards luncheon ensured a significant fun factor throughout the week.
