New Cypress Point Showcase Cottage Completed

Just a few years ago, Cypress Point was a concept in architect and developer Mitch LaPlante’s mind. Fast-forward to today and the neighborhood is an inspiring, active enclave complete with a true sense of community.

Cypress Point was released to the market in the spring of 2010, and with just five homesites remaining, Mitch and his team, including Epic Development, decided to reserve a homesite to build the recently completed Showcase Cottage. Taking the most popular design, Model E, they positioned the cottage to feature the incredible view overlooking The River Course, and enhanced the design to take full advantage of its location.

Design considerations include extending the open floorplan, a spacious screened porch off the living room, an enlarged kitchen, a first floor guest suite and entranceway, and a master suite with more square footage – all of which include oversized windows that maximize golf course views from all angles. “I love to cook and entertain,” said Mitch LaPlante. “When I was thinking about doing this Showcase Cottage, I decided to really take it to the next level for those who enjoy entertaining, too. That meant more space in the open living room and a kitchen with all of the bells and whistles.”

Also, the landscaping was redesigned using similar materials found on the golf course just steps away. By using native grasses and plants, designers were able to extend the property so it appears to be on the edge of the course, and also maintain the Cypress Point mission to live quietly among nature. 

When asked how he felt now, seeing his vision of Cypress Point come to life, Mitch reflected, “I’m like a giddy little kid. Seeing it before my eyes, it’s not just the neighborhood – the homes, landscaping, pool area – that makes it so special to me,” he said. “It’s the people, too. I’ve gotten to know the people who live here and they wholly embrace the concept of living with nature. The fact that they are proud of Cypress Point is just icing on the cake.”
