Warm up your cooler evenings with this delicious recipe from Newton Farms!

Creamy Shrimp & Grits Creamy Shrimp & Grits     

Ingredients: 1 cup water
2 cups Half & Half
2 ounces butter
3/4 cup grits
Salt and pepper to taste
½ white onion (chopped fine)
2 stalks celery (chopped fine)
6 strips of bacon (cut into slices ¼ inch thick)
1 pound shrimp (peeled and deveined)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
2 large tomatoes (diced)
1 bunch green onions (chopped)
¼ cup all purpose flour

Directions Grits: Bring water, Half & Half (1 cup), butter, and salt to a boil. Add grits, stir, reduce heat and cover. Cook for 15 – 20 minutes. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Shrimp: In large pan cook bacon until crisp. Add celery, onion, and garlic and cook 1 – 2 minutes. Add shrimp and sauté 2 – 3 minutes. When shrimp begin to turn pink, dust pan with flour, stir, and blend well. Add tomatoes and Half & Half (1 cup). Bring to boil and add scallions. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve over grits.
