The Ocean Course and Doonbeg Golf Club Named to the Top 100 Courses in the World

The Ocean Course and Doonbeg Golf Club were recently named to Golf World’s list of Top 100 Course in the World. The Ocean Course was ranked #47. Doonbeg entered at #99 and was one of only nine Irish golf courses to make the list. This is the first time that Golf World has extended its respected course rankings to include the very best golf courses on earth.

Golf World called Doonbeg, “A spectacularly good links built comparatively recently in really dramatic Atlantic dunes. The first is one of the best first holes anywhere in the world, and there are a number of others (the signature 14th and brilliant 15th), which are wonderfully memorable.” 

According to Golf World, the panel assembled to compile the listing was the biggest and most geographically spread panel that has even been amassed to judge the merits of golf courses. They included the great and the good from all corners of the planet. Each member was asked to consider design, conditioning, history, memorability, and reputation.
